CHM 101. Introductory Chemistry I. (4 Credits)

Emphasizes experimental and theoretical aspects of inorganic, organic, and biological chemistry. Discusses general chemistry concepts as they apply to issues within our society and environment. Designed for the non-science major. Lecture 3 hours per week. Laboratory 3 hours per week. Total 6 hours per week. Prerequisite: Demonstrated proficiency in MTE 1 - MTE 4 through placement testing or completion of modules.

CHM 102. Introductory Chemistry II. (4 Credits)

CHM 110. Survey of Chemistry. (3 Credits)

Introduces the basic concepts of general, organic, and biochemistry with emphasis on their applications to other disciplines. No previous chemistry background required. Lecture 3 hours per week. Total 3 hours per week.

CHM 111. General Chemistry I. (4 Credits)

Explores the fundamental laws, theories, and mathematical concepts of chemistry. Designed primarily for science and engineering majors. Requires a strong background in mathematics. Lecture 3 hours per week. Laboratory 3 hours per week. Total 6 hours per week. Prerequisites: MTE 1 - MTE 9.

CHM 112. General Chemistry II. (4 Credits)

Explores the fundamental laws, theories, and mathematical concepts of chemistry. Designed primarily for science and engineering majors. Requires a strong background in mathematics. Lecture 3 hours per week. Laboratory 3 hours per week. Total 6 hours per week. Prerequisites: CHM 111 or instructor permission.

CHM 241. Organic Chemistry I. (3 Credits)

Introduces fundamental chemistry of carbon compounds, including structures, physical properties, syntheses, and typical reactions. Emphasizes reaction mechanisms. Lecture 3 hours per week. Total 3 hours per week. Prerequisite: CHM 112. Corequisite CHM 243.

CHM 242. Organic Chemistry II. (3 Credits)

Introduces fundamental chemistry of carbon compounds, including structures, physical properties, syntheses, and typical reactions. Emphasizes reaction mechanisms. Lecture 3 hours per week. Total 3 hours per week Prerequisite: CHM 241. Corequisite CHM 244.

CHM 243. Organic Chemistry Laboratory I. (1 Credit)

Laboratory 3 hours per week. Total 3 hours per week. Corequisite: CHM 241.

CHM 244. Organic Chemistry Laboratory II. (1 Credit)

Laboratory 3 credits per week. Total 3 credits per week. Corequisite: CHM 242.

CHM 260. Introductory Biochemistry. (3 Credits)

Explores fundamentals of biological chemistry. Includes study of macromolecules, metabolic pathways, and biochemical genetics. Lecture 3 hours per week. Total 3 hours per week. Prerequisite: CHM 112 or divisional approval.
