Geology (GOL)

GOL 105. Physical Geology. (4 Credits)

Introduces the science of physical geology through a comprehensive systems-based examination of Earth's structure, composition, rocks, and minerals, landforms, geomorphology and agents responsible for shaping and modifying its environments. Explores the origin and evolution of Earth's topographic and bathymetric features, geologic phenomena, and geologic hazards, resulting from plate tectonics. Lecture 3 hours per week. Laboratory 3 hours per week. Total 6 hours per week.

GOL 110. Earth Science. (4 Credits)

Examines the dynamics of the earth and its relation to the solar system. Applies the principles of geology, oceanography, meteorology, and astronomy in a multi- disciplinary science environment. Stresses the effects of geologic processes on the environment. Lecture 3 hours per week. Laboratory 3 hours per week. Total 6 hours per week. Prerequisite: GOL 105.
